Cohorts
A cohort is an open-enrollment group class with a fixed schedule that runs once enough students enrol and pay. Organizations run cohorts under the business, taught by an assigned tutor.
What a cohort is
Unlike a one-to-one booking, a cohort is a shared class: you set the schedule, a minimum and maximum number of seats, and an enrolment window. Students reserve seats while enrolment is open. When enrolment closes, if enough students reserved, the class forms and everyone is asked to pay; once enough have paid, the class is confirmed and scheduled for the whole group.
Create a cohort
Cohorts are created from the organization workspace and taught by a teaching tutor you assign.
- 01Connect the organization's Stripe account first — a cohort can't collect payments (and can't be published) without it.
- 02Go to Dashboard → Organization → Cohorts and create a new cohort.
- 03Set the title and description (in each language you offer), the assigned tutor, seat limits, the enrolment and payment windows, and the session schedule.
- 04Choose the billing mode — pay in full, monthly, or both — and set the per-currency price (and a pay-in-full discount if you offer monthly).
- 05Publish when ready; the cohort appears on your public page during its enrolment window.
How a cohort runs
Enrolment closes at least a week before the first session. Students who reserved are asked to pay within the payment window. If enough pay, the class is confirmed and a shared schedule is created for everyone. If too few pay, an administrator decides whether to run it with the students who paid or cancel and refund them. All of these transitions happen automatically on schedule; the admin only steps in for the underfill decision.
One-off or monthly billing
You can offer a cohort as a single payment, as monthly instalments, or let students choose. With monthly billing, the first month is paid to join and each later month is billed before it begins. If a student misses a monthly payment, they get a short grace period with a reminder; if it's still unpaid, they're removed from the class's upcoming sessions while the class continues for everyone else. Paying in full can carry a discount you set.
The underfill decision
If a cohort forms but fewer than the minimum pay by the deadline, it moves to a pending decision. Any administrator (not only the owner) can choose to run it with the students who paid, or cancel it — in which case every paid student is refunded automatically. If no one decides within the decision window, the cohort cancels and refunds by default, so students are never left waiting.
